BREAKING: 2 Injured in Shooting at Arapahoe HS

Two students are injured during a shooting at Arapahoe High School, located at the 2200 block of East Dry Creek Road in Centennial.

Arapahoe County Sheriff Grayson Robinson reports the suspected shooter, a student at Arapahoe High School, who is as yet unidentified, acted alone, and is believed to have taken his own life with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The entire school has been evacuated.

Robinson says the shooter intended to target a specific teacher at the school. The teacher left immediately and is unharmed. A student who was in the area was injured by the suspect. This victim was taken via Littleton Fire Rescue to a hospital and is listed in critical condition. The identity of the victims is not being released at this time.

No law enforcement weapons were discharged during the situation.

Another victim incurred wounds, but is expected to be treated and released today, according to Robinson.

Many schools around Colorado are on lockdown as a result, including all Littleton and Aurora schools.

A staging area has been set up at Shepherd of the Hills Middle School across Dry Creek Rd. from the high school. Parents are urged to gather there to look for their children and await more information. Most parents will have trouble communicating with their sons or daughters because cell phones were most likey left behind at the school, as many had to evacuate quickly.

Arapahoe High School is a part of Littleton Public Schools. The school is just miles away from Columbine High School in Littleton which was the scene of the 1999 school massacre.

We will provide more details as we receive them.
