Fort Collins Police Investigate Injury Accident

On Sunday, September 15 at about 8:27pm, Fort Collins Police Services was notified of a head-on collision with injuries at the intersection of Taft Hill and Prospect Roads.

A 2004 Honda Pilot was traveling west on Prospect Road making a left turn onto southbound Taft Hill Road. As the Honda turned, a 2002 Geo Metro, traveling eastbound on Prospect Road, entered the intersection and collided head-on with the Honda. The Geo may have entered the intersection with a red signal light.

The driver of the Geo, Kaylee Blevens, 17, of Fort Collins, and her juvenile passenger were treated at Poudre Valley Hospital for moderate injuries. The driver of the Honda, Merle Abresch, 65, of Fort Collins, also suffered moderate injuries and was treated at Poudre Valley Hospital.

The intersection of Prospect and Taft Hill Roads was closed for approximately 4 hours while investigators processed the scene. Police do not believe speed was involved, but are investigating whether Blevens was impaired. The investigation is continuing and charges are pending.

Anyone with information about the collision is asked to contact Officer Drew Jurkofsky at 970-221-6555.
